Mac Trailer: Family Owned & Operated

MAC Trailer, a vocational semi-trailer manufacturer, was established by Michael A. Conny in 1994, originating as a one-man team in a single bay garage. Mike started out as a wreck and repair facility in Alliance, Ohio and quickly grew his business into one of the leading trailer manufacturers in the country, starting with dump trailers. MAC Trailer now produces dumps, flatbeds, transfer, pneumatic tanks, liquid tank trailers, and straight truck bodies – all proudly built in the United States of America. Over the last 28 years, MAC Trailer has experienced exponential growth, and now maintains multiple trailer brands supported by 1,500 employees, 12 manufacturing facilities across 8 states, as well as a service and aftermarket parts center. The growth of MAC Trailer can be contributed to the dedication of innovative design and a quality product built by quality people.

Additionally, MAC Trailer provides a robust dealer network within the United States and Canada to allow customers amble opportunities to purchase a trailer local to them. This has allowed MAC Trailer to meet the needs of our customers and dealers in a timely manner and to provide excellent customer service.

Mike Conny and Jenny Conny have two daughters, Julia Ray and Rachel Raber, who have both participated in the growth of MAC Trailer as well as their family cattle and crop farm, Conny Farms.

Julia and Rachel began learning mounted shooting in 2021. Other than watching it one time at the Quarter Horse Congress, neither of the girls knew very much about it. They were lucky enough to have Jared and Cara Penley move in just 20 minutes away. Julia and Rachel couldn’t ask for a better trainer and coach and can’t wait to progress in the sport with guidance from the Penley’s. Julia currently has two 2023 Futurity mares and is very excited for their future in mounted shooting. MAC is looking forward to supporting the girls in their new passion and to be a part of this amazing program for these talented young horses. MAC Trailer is proud to sponsor the CMSA Futurity and has partnered with the event for the next 3 years!

Tell us about the origin of MAC Trailer. When and how was the company started?

At 28 years old Mike was working night shift at a local semi-trailer manufacturer. He worked on the floor and welded. Mike had the drive and the desire to do more and to be his own boss. With the help of his mother and the $8,000 she loaned him; he rented a one bay garage and began his repair company with the only employee being himself. Mike’s daughters say he is the hardest working individual they know. His mind is always at work, thinking of the next step or business move. His work ethic and determination got him to where he is today, and his family couldn’t be more proud of him.

What has been the most exciting aspect of owning and operating MAC Trailer?

Mike says the most exciting thing about owning and operating MAC Trailer is watching it grow and watching the next generation get involved. Mike never thought 28 years ago when he was fixing wrecked trailers by himself all night and day it would grow into the company it is today. Right now, Julia’s husband, Tate, and Rachel’s husband, Chad both are General Managers at two different locations. Julia and Tate and Rachel and Chad both have 2 children and the hope is one day the grandchildren will be the 3rd generation running MAC Trailer.

Why invest in Cowboy Mounted Shooting and the Futurity Program?

Jenny got Julia and Rachel involved in showing horses when they were in their early years of grade school. So, the family has always had horses at the farm and did some sort of competition whether it be hunter under saddle, western events, and now the mounted shooting. Even though the girls have always been competing, this is the first year MAC Trailer has sponsored any equine event or organization. We are looking forward to supporting these equine athletes and being a part of the future of Cowboy Mounted Shooting. We are very excited to reach a new group of people and promote our company and its products. Although we don’t build horse trailers, our customers use our trailers to haul manure and hay, among other things, on farms and ranches. Farmers use our dump trailers to haul things such as grain, demo, dry fertilizer or dirt. They use our flatbeds to haul equipment, hay, and tanks for various purposes. Also, farmers use the tank trailers to haul dry or liquid fertilizer.  Nearly every one competing or attending a mounted shooting event knows a farmer or rancher and our hope is to reach that new platform with our sponsorship.
