2025 CMSA Futurity and Stallion Incentive Program Non-Pro Application

If you plan to compete in the Non-Pro division of the CMSA Futurity or Derby, you must complete a Non-Pro Application. This application is required for all Non-Pro riders and must be submitted each event year, even if you've applied in the past.

 

The Non-Pro application for the CMSA Futurity and Derby is now live through July 31, 2025!  Please review the excerpt of the 2025 CMSA Futurity and Derby Rules for pertinent information:

 

Non-Pro Application

a. A Non-Pro Application is required for all riders that intend to participate in the Non-Pro division for the Futurity and/or Derby

i. A new application must be completed each event year

b. Non-Pro Application must be completed on the www.cmsafuturity.com website
c. Non-Pro Application submission deadline is July 31st of current year
d. All Non-Pro Applications are reviewed by a CMSA owner-appointed board
e. A preliminary non-pro list will be posted on August 15th for two weeks to allow protests

i. Protest fee: $250, with a written statement of proof
ii. CMSA owner-appointed board will review protests
iii. If the applicant is disqualified as a Non-Pro, they will be moved to the Open division

f. Late Applications

i. A $250 late fee applies if the application is submitted after July 31st and up until Sep 1st of the current year​

  1. Failure to submit application by Sep 1st, applicant may still enter open division following open division guidelines

  2. Approval will be determined by the CMSA owner-appointed board

Non-Pro Application

Is applicant a CMSA Level 4 competitor or lower at the date of application? (A rider that moves up to a level 5 after the July 31st cutoff still qualifies as a level 4 for the current year’s Futurity and Derby)
Is applicant a sponsored rider? (An applicant is considered sponsored if applicant receives monetary, product, or discount-based compensation for promotion of a product or service of which they do not hold majority ownership)
Does applicant hold a Pro Card with CMSA?
Is the owner of the horse the applicant or an immediate family member? (Immediate family members include mother, father, brother, sister, stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother, stepsister, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, spouses, or grandparents)
Has applicant shown, judged, trained, or assisted in training a horse for remuneration, monetary or otherwise, either directly or indirectly? (Payment of entry fee and/or expenses by anyone other than the applicant or the applicant’s immediate family?) (This does not include range mastering and/or assisting at CMSA shoots in return for reduced stall or entry fees)
Has applicant instructed another person in riding, driving, training, or showing a horse for remuneration, monetary or otherwise, either directly or indirectly in the past three calendar years?
Has applicant shown, trained, or assisted in the training of a horse for which an immediate family member accepts remuneration, monetary or otherwise, either directly or indirectly in the past three calendar years?
  1. I received, read, understood, and retained a copy of the 2025 CMSA Futurity and Derby Rules (posted on www.cmsafuturity.com) and the 2025 CMSA Futurity and Derby Non-Pro Application.  

  2. Answers provided on the 2025 CMSA Futurity and Derby Non-Pro Application are true and correct and the application is filled out in its entirety.

  3. I understand that denial of application due to incorrect information results in a five-year suspension from competing in the CMSA Futurity and/or Derby.

  4. I understand that denial of application due to not meeting the qualifications for a Non-Pro rider requires registration in the Open CMSA Futurity and/or Derby class.
